Central New Mexico Community College
Central New Mexico Community College Breaks Ground on New Trades Facility with funds passed thru 2022 GO Bond 3 Passage
Thanks to funds approved by voters who passed the 2022 GO Bond 3, Central New Mexico Community College broke ground on a new 60,000-square-foot trades facility on its main campus. The $58.7 million skilled trades facility will replace three of the school’s oldest buildings which had stood since the 1970’s. The new facility will house six to ten programs in welding, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry training to help prepare students for careers pursuing those trades. CNM President Tracy Hartzler says that this is only the beginning, “We are currently on a site that is over 13 acres…we have room to grow our skills trades programs.” These programs will help address the workforce shortage facing skill trades, and help younger New Mexicans join the in-demand trade industry.
